Burj Dubai – The World Highest Building
Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower in English), credited as the World Highest Building, is a superb high skyscraper in Dubai with a total expected expenditure of a lucrative US$4.1 billion. The construction started five year back in 2004 and is assumed that it will be ready for starting activities by december, this year 2009. The same construction was ready in September 2009. Burj Dubai has reached a height of 2, 684 ft (818 m), thus becoming the tallest ever man made structure in the world.
The World Highest Building Burj Dubai is a wonderful part of the “Downtown Burj Dubai”, flagship development sprawling in 2 sq. km area along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai’s main business district. The tower is architecturally designed by famous architect Adrian Smith, who had experience in designing super structures with world renowned Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The in charge of the project is Chicago-based architecture and engineering firm SOM.
The construction started on 21 September 2004 and by 17 June 2008, the construction of Burj Dubai reached up to a height of 636 m (2,087 ft). The record breaking occurred on 1 September 2008 when the tower reached 2, 257 ft making Burj Dubai the World Highest Building. It surpassed the Warsaw Radio Mast in Konstantynów, Poland, the previous record-holder. The construction contractors have announced that on 1 October 2009, the exterior of the building is completed.
Burj Dubai has many other distinctions in its credit. It is the building with most number of floors, 160 floors surpassing the previous record of 110 floors in World Trade Centre. This building comes with World’s highest elevator installation and the elevators have the highest speed of 18 m/s or 64 km/h. It is also credited with the record of highest vertical concrete pumping of 601 m (1,972 ft).
Moreover Burj Dubai has been in the news as not only as an eye catching highest skyscraper but also as the tallest structure in the world with residential space. It is believed that by completion, it will be the most marvelous structure in whole of the world. The interiors of the World Highest Building Burj Dubai will be adorned by more than 1,000 pieces of arts and paintings and the lobby will be decorated with 196 artworks made out of bronze and brass alloy cymbals. These symbolize the 196 countries of the world. The whole building is equipped with mind blowing most modern techno savvy equipments to make it unique in all sense.
